CORINNE MACLELLAN, BPR HCol

Media, Community and Stakeholder Relations Advisor

Active in the areas of community, government and media relations, marketing, communications, corporate engagement, public affairs, and event production since 1994, Corinne MacLellan is recognized as a communications specialist.  Corinne currently maintains a diverse cross-sectoral portfolio focused on defence, First Nations, tourism, natural resources and infrastructure development. Her work in communications has affected change and profile for the region around the world both in the private and public sectors. Her commitment to highlighting the constitutional Treaty Rights of First Nations was recognized by international media and ignited a global discussion. For decades she has embarked on promotional campaigns focused on pride of place both in Nova Scotia as well as throughout North America and in Belgium. Corinne’s public relations efforts most recently contributed to the same-day ticket sell out for the Canadian SailGP event in Halifax and she is currently spearheading a variety of initiatives with Events East Group regionally.  She continues to act as an advisor on a variety of renewable energy projects regionally and convened the inaugural Halifax International Fleet Week in 2023 which was attended by over 100,000 people including thousands of International visiting service vessels and crew members.

 

Corinne was named chair of the NS Canadian Forces Liaison Council in 2023 and sits on the Honorary Colonel advisory council to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Jennie Carignan. In 2019 she was appointed as Hon. Lieutenant Colonel of the Halifax Rifles by the Minister of National Defence, Harjit Sajjan and was recently advanced to the rank of Honorary Colonel by Minister Bill Blair.  She is a former in-Canada representative for the Belgian Government, and communications advisor to the Assembly of First Nations regionally.  She sits on the Board of Governors of the Army Museum Halifax Citadel and is Chair of the NS Canadian Forces Liaisons Council for NS. Her work with the Indigenous community is ongoing through the Millbrook First Nation Economic Development Corporation Board and the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre – Wije’winen Centre development.  She is a proud past Governor of Commissionaires NS receiving the Distinguished Service Medal in 2022.  She is also the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee and King Charles III Coronation Medals and was awarded the 2021 MSVU Alumni Achievement Award for Community Service.
